My World Is Upside Down

Just came home from Crunch Gym where I took the anti-gravity class. It's 70 minutes of working on those hanging silk ribbons like in Cirque du Soleil. Hanging, swinging, flipping, and pulling yourself up and around. It's a dizzing experience but a full workout. My world is spinning but I feel great. I fed myself and the stray cat (she seems to know when I'm eating). Now I'm ready to work. I'm researching special art events that are being held duing Art Basel Miami Beach week for a feature in the December Issue of Where Magazine. I'm also doing a little work on the Miami Book Fair feature for Miami ArtZine. Both deadlines are next week. I'm trying to get focused but that class really wore me out but I know I'll be energized any minute. I guess I'll never be a Cirque du Soleil star.

It's All About Book Number Two

I've finally, at least in my mind, put my novel SOUTH BEACH STAR to bed. Now it's up to the Universe and my agent. I've set deadlines for myself for my next novel LAUREL AVENUE which I'm currently working on and very excited about. It's a Hollywood story filled with gossip, wanna-be-actors, screenwriters, comedians, gossip, murder, a kidnapping, and the tabloid press. It's lots of fun to write and takes me back to my days in Hollywood. It's another gorgeous day in South Beach (I've already been out for a bike ride and fed the stray cats). Now I'm being picked up for one of my freelance jobs and tonight I'm going to see Fiddler on the Roof with Topol, the original star and star of the film. It's a classic and I've never seen it on stage, just the film, so it will be fun. Season is upon us and I'm ready. Funkshion Fashion Week, Miami Book Fair, Art Basel, Wine & Food Festival, and Mayhem.

Writing, Biking and Working Out in Paradise.

Another day of paradise in South Beach. Sometimes I kick myself when I tell myself I want more but I do. Living in South Beach is wonderful in itself but if you're a writer, you want your books published. If you're an actor, you want to act. If you're an artist, you want to exhibit and sell your work. Sure, we live in a tropical paradise and whenever I get the "blahs" I just hop on my bike and go to the beach. Today I'm writing (another freelance job) so I can't complain. The plumber came and fixed my toilet so I can now use my bathroom. I have cleaned my bathroom floor four times in two days but I now have a working toilet so I'm happy. I watched Mad Men last night and I'm so glad my life isn't like theirs. They all seem like robots walking around in someone else's clothes. Desperate Housewives used to seem fun and crazy but now it's all drama, trauma, and complicated relationships. No wonder I gave up watching TV. I do like the new show GLEE, which is a total fantasy with singing and production numbers. I've always wanted a life that was underscored and had big production numbers. So I went back to reading one of the books by an author that's coming to the Miami Book Fair this year. The book is called Whispers from the Bay by John Tkac. It's about a young boy and his ability to converse with dolphins through his mind. It's a Young Adult novel and it's actually quite interesting and set in Miami. These books give me inspiration to write more and if I only had more time (and didn't have to work) I'd read and write all day. So many stories but so little time to put them all down on paper.

Writing LAUREL AVENUE

Fed the stray cat, made coffee, and took two B12 tablets hoping to be energized for a full day of writing. Yep, it's a writing day for me. I've had a week of working on so many projects (ghost writing, free-lance features, etc) but today I'm going to work on my second novel LAUREL AVENUE. It's a Hollywood story filled with wacky characters including a tyrant boss of a comedy club, a nosy apartment super, a group of gossiping neighbors, an aspiring writer/waiter, an aspiring screenwriter/waitress, a beautiful blonde star of a hit sitcom, and a sleazy talentless musician boyfriend. It's filled with lots of gossip, a kidnapping, a murder, and a group of hopefuls all fighting for fame. No more on that, it's time to write. Have a great day.

Playing With Models

"We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing." -Shaw
Yesterday I played a lot but it was really all work related. In the afternoon I visited the new MAPS (a Miami Production Services Studio) for a fashion shoot. Watched the model, had some delicious food and scored a free MAPS t-shirt. Last night I went to the opening party for Rock Fashion Week at the Eden Rock Hotel and later walked next door to LIV at the Fontainebleau for the anniversary party for Rocco Donna Salons. The fashion (hair) show didn't start until much later so we hung out in the dressing room and I took some fun shots of the models being made up. After a walking tour of LIV and another visit to backstage, we decided to leave since the actual show was almost two hours later. We grabbed our gift bags and headed out as the VIPS were entering on the red carpet. Today, it's back to writing. I'm working on yet another chapter for that book (not my own) for my ghostwriting client. I'm also still working on the feature for the Miami Book Fair. There are so many Miami writers and books with Miami themes this year. I'm praying that next year I will be one of the authors at the Fair with my book SOUTH BEACH STAR. All photos were shot backstage for the Rocco Donna Anniversary party hair show.

A Smile for a Dreary Day

Another dreary day in South Beach. Looks like an umbrella will be a must accessory to all events. Writing more South Beach bios on movers, shakers, has-beens and up-and-comers for a new website. On such a gloomy day I needed a smile so I posted one the photos taken recently by photographer Howard Austin Feld at a photo shoot for Elaine Lancaster's Center of the Universe exhibit during Art Basel Miami Beach. Like most people, I can always put on a smile for the cameras. Today is totally booked and I'm disappointed that I can't even fit in a visit to the gym but I'm still sore from Monday night and I went last night. Just started reading Whispers from the Bay by Florida author John Tkac, which is about a young boys mysterious connection with the dolphins. Now that's something to whisper about.
